A few minutes in Savannah’s historic district is all it takes to fall in love with the city. Steeped in history, Southern charm, and more than a few haunted tales, Savannah will quickly cast its spell on you. Find out the best Airbnb Savannah rentals to make the most of your time in this captivating destination, plus tips on Savannah neighborhoods and top sights.
Photos of Savannah are swoon-inducing, with its moss-draped live oaks and brick-paved streets. But seeing the city in person is even more intoxicating. Residents and tourists alike can be seen taking in the beauty of Savannah in its green squares and parks. Mansions, historic buildings, shops, and restaurants line the historic center streets and downtown riverfront. And over it all, Savannah’s swaying moss hints at the city’s reputation as one of the most haunted places in the U.S.
Savannah’s ghost stories are nearly as old as the city, founded in 1733. It was the site of fires, flooding, and yellow fever outbreaks, as well as the center of early America’s trade in enslaved people. There are rumors of the city being built upon cemeteries and Native American burial grounds. So is it even surprising that almost every building in Savannah has its own ghost tale?
I’ve visited Savannah several times now to see my sister, who has been living there a few years. I’m happy to share tips on the best Airbnb Savannah stays for couples, groups, and solo travelers.
