Last Updated on April 13, 2026
Guests at Sandals Resorts are spoiled for choice when it comes to options: there are now 17 Sandals resorts on 8 tropical islands to choose from. But which is the best for your trip? I’ve ranked all 17 Sandals resorts so you can find the perfect match for your vacation, honeymoon, destination wedding, or romantic Caribbean getaway.
The first Sandals resort opened in 1981; back then, the choice was easy. The portfolio has since grown to 17 resorts on 8 Caribbean islands, which makes finding the best Sandals resort for your trip a little more involved. That’s where this guide comes in, with every resort rated, ranked, and reviewed so you can book with confidence.
Wondering which Sandals resort is best for foodies, which has the most pools, or which is the perfect setting for a destination wedding? Which resort has the best beach? And what about watersports, entertainment, and quickest transfer time from the airport?
The good news is that I’ve compiled all the ratings, amenities, awards, and reviews for every Sandals resort ranked from best to good. I’ll also include links to book each resort and tips on Sandals specials – so you can be on the beach with a tropical drink in hand ASAP!
Note that Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma, Bahamas, is currently closed for a comprehensive transformation that will see it reopen as Beaches Exuma! More information here. Three resorts in Jamaica are closed for renovations: Sandals South Coast will open November 18, 2026, and Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean will open December 18, 2026.

Choosing The Best Sandals Resort: How to Pick One

Narrowing the choice of resorts down to just one might seem like an impossible task! Here are some tips to help you sort:
- Read through this article and get an idea of where the resorts are, the amenities, and the general vibe at each. Decide on a budget for your trip including flights.
- Make a list of your “must-haves” (like lots of restaurants or great scuba sites) and “deal-breakers” (like a small beach area or long transfers from the airport). Perhaps you already have your heart on an island – this makes it simpler!
- Search flights to some of your top pick resorts (I’ll add links below to make it easy) for your travel dates; use this to narrow your choices. Remember, the less time you spend in travel is more time on the beach… but sometimes longer flights are worth it!
- Take your top 2-3 resorts and narrow it further, looking at available rooms, 7-7-7 Specials, and any other resort deals for your dates.
Once you decide, it’s easy to book the stay yourself directly on the Sandals site! I’ll add more booking tips later in the article.
For now, though, let’s jump into the top Sandals resorts!

*Note: If you’re torn about visiting Jamaica so soon after Hurricane Melissa, remember that once a resort has fully reopened, your stay is part of the island’s economic recovery. Dunn’s River earns the #1 spot on this list because it delivers a strong experience and helps support a destination that’s rebuilding.
What guests say about Sandals Dunn’s River
Sandals Dunn’s River in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, opened in 2023 and quickly became the go-to for Sandals lovers in Jamaica! The resort is completely updated, and guests are rave about the stellar guest service, gourmet restaurants, and luxury suites. The resort was awarded Jamaica’s National Quality Award for Excellence in Service for 2025.
For those who love the water, Dunn’s is a resort that has both a great pool scene and a beautiful beach. The layout offers five pools, including two beautiful river pools and an infinity pool with beach views. And while the beach itself is on the smaller side, it’s still lovely with calm water and watersports like snorkeling, kayaking, Hobie cats, and a glass-bottom boat.
Guests can enjoy endless gourmet dining with 12 restaurants serving up everything from early breakfasts to late-night snacks. Plus, there are 9 bars, including a lively swim-up bar, so unlimited tropical cocktails are always on tap.
Dunn’s River also gets great reviews of its restaurants and bars, in particular its Rum Club bar which was the first one in the Sandals family. Guests love the sushi at Hanami, lobster at Edessa, pizza at Isola and the Jerk Shack for local flavor!
Feedback on the resort’s entertainment is positive, from live shows to chill beach bands. And for those looking for a bit more action, there are day trips to see nearby waterfalls including the resort’s namesake as well as catamaran cruises.
While there are a few downsides like mosquitos (pack bug spray!) and a longer airport transfer unless you can catch the daily American Airlines flight from Miami, they won’t spoil the overall experience. Sandals Dunn’s River scores big for its combo of Jamaican vibes, top-notch service, and luxury amenities, making it a go-to for those looking for a balance of social and chill time in a beautiful Caribbean setting.
Sandals Dunn’s River is also my #1 pick of the top 5 Sandals resorts to book for 2026.
Sandals Dunn’s River is best for
- Social travelers: this lively resort has plenty to do, and guests love to socialize at the Rum Club in particular!
- Honeymooners: The romantic ambiance, luxury rooms, and lush setting make it ideal for a romantic getaway.
- Adventure enthusiasts: Dunn’s watersports offerings and location near some of Jamaica’s best waterfalls make it a best bet for active travelers.
- Foodies: With 12 restaurants at Dunn’s River and exchange privileges at Sandals Ochi for another 16, you could stay for over a week and never eat at the same restaurant twice.

What guests say about Sandals Saint Vincent
Guests who’ve stayed at Sandals Saint Vincent tend to agree on a few big things: the setting is gorgeous, the food is a standout, and the overall feel is calm and romantic while still social.
The pool scene gets strong reviews with both a large main pool plus smaller, quieter pools. The beach is small and cove-style rather than long and wide, but most guests like the calm water, soft sand, and tucked-away feel. It’s often described as more private and scenic.
On property, guests enjoy a good mix of included water sports, scuba, and low-key daytime activities. Scuba lovers report high-quality dive sites all within about 30 minutes from boarding the boat to getting in the water. When guests do leave the resort, popular picks include island tours, boat trips, and exploring more of St. Vincent’s coastline, but this is generally viewed as a “stay-put and relax” resort first.
Food is one of the most consistent high points in guest reviews. Travelers often call out the variety and quality at the specialty restaurants, especially seafood, sushi/Asian-inspired options, and the wood-fired, shared-plate dinners. The main downsides you’ll see are slower service at peak times and a desire for more vegetarian or vegan options without special requests.
Service feedback is strong overall, especially in butler-level rooms. In standard and club-level rooms, most people report friendly staff and a welcoming feel, but you’ll hear more mixed comments about slow bar or restaurant service and the occasional housekeeping miss on busier days.
Rooms are widely described as spacious, stylish, and comfortable and a clear step up from older, more traditional Caribbean hotel rooms. Villa and overwater categories get some of the loudest praise.
Sandals Saint Vincent isn’t perfect: service can feel a bit uneven outside butler rooms, flights and transfers take more effort than Jamaica or Grenada, and some of the bathroom layouts are more “design statement” than practical. But if you’re willing to trade a little convenience for a secluded cove, modern rooms, and some of the best food in the Sandals lineup, it delivers a splugeworthy stay.
Overall, it’s a great fit for couples who want slow mornings, long dinners, and a quieter, special-occasion vibe rather than a high-energy, party-forward resort.
Sandals Saint Vincent is best for:
- Honeymooners + special occasions: The cove setting, dramatic hills, and stylish rooms make this feel more like a romantic hideaway than a big resort.
- Food-focused travelers: Guests consistently praise the dining here. If you care a lot about dinners and cocktails, this is one of the strongest Sandals choices.
- Couples who want a quieter vibe: The overall feel is calm, scenic, and laid-back rather than loud or party-heavy.
- Butler-level guests: Butler service here gets some of the best feedback on property: couples in villas and overwater categories often rave about their stay and the extra attention to detail.
- Travelers who value setting over convenience: Flights and transfers can take more effort than to Jamaica or Grenada, but if you’re willing to spend a bit longer getting here, you’re rewarded with a more secluded Caribbean escape.

Nearly everyone who visits loves Sandals Grenada! This is one of the resorts with the highest ratings and return visits. The quick airport transfer, friendly people, and easy-to-explore island are lauded by many past guests. It’s also a top recommendation for first-time Sandals travelers as an “intro” to the brand.

What guests say about Sandals Grande St. Lucian
Sandals Grande St. Lucian is another crowd-pleaser: so many Sandals guests name this as their favorite, and can’t wait to return again and again! The overwater bungalows and overwater wedding chapel make it one of the most popular picks for honeymoons and Sandals destination weddings. It’s one of the few resorts on the island to feature over-the-water bungalows.
Sandals Grande St. Lucian is known as the most lively of the St. Lucia Sandals. It’s famous for its stunning beach, located on the calm waters of Rodney Bay. This resort is also adjacent to Pigeon Island National Park, paradise for history buffs and adventure lovers, offering interesting historical sites and hiking trails.
For dining, be sure to try Gordon’s over-the-water restaurant, as well as guest-favorites Soy for sushi, Bombay Club for Indian, and Kimonos for Asian including teppanyaki.
If you love the idea of St. Lucia for a honeymoon or romantic escape, but want a smaller resort with a more intimate vibe, both Sandals Halcyon Beach and Regency La Toc are best bets, too.
Check out the resort map here to see where the different room types are located (hover over or tap the white dots on the map). The Grande Rondovals will get you closest to the beach here, other than the overwater bungalows!
With “Stay at 1, Play at 3” exchange privileges at the other St. Lucia Sandals resorts, you can take advantage of 27 gourmet restaurants, 21 bars, 11 pristine pools, and 10 whirlpools across the three resorts – round-trip transfers included, of course!
Sandals Grande St. Lucia is best for
- Romantic escapes for weddings and honeymoons, thanks to the luxury room types like overwater bungalows and the over-the-water chapel (plus the onsite wedding planner team).

Sandals Resorts Booking Tips
Sandals has easy online booking that most travelers choose to navigate on their own. You can either book your resort stay together with flights through Sandals, or book just the resort and then arrange your own flights separately.
Regardless, it’s always better to book your stay directly on the Sandals site rather than a third party site like Expedia. You’ll be able to customize your options and manage your booking more easily, plus you’ll be eligible for deals like their 7-7-7 specials and other offers.
Most travelers search for flights first based on their desired travel dates and preferred destination. Then they check the Sandals website for their preferred resort and see what specials are available and what room types are available in their price range.
Each resort map has a listing so that you can check the location of the rooms you’re considering. You might want to be close to a pool or have a beachfront view! Or you might prefer to be farther away from the pool or walkways for more privacy.
Best Tips for Sandals Deals & Discounts
- Book well in advance to score the best deal on a Sandals Vacation.
- Or book last minute. If your vacation time is flexible or if you can travel on short notice, some of the best ways to find a low price are by booking a Sandals Last-Minute Deal within 30 days of travel.
- Keep an eye on Sandals’ 7-7-7 Deals. These are 7 qualifying rooms and suites offered at an additional 7% off rack rate promotions – but only for 7 days! The selection usually changes each Wednesday.
- Score a “free night for staying X nights” promotion. Sandals sometimes offers promotions where if you stay a certain number of nights, you get one free. Free nights can offer one of the highest values of the discounts, especially if you select a higher room category.
- Travel within 30 days of your wedding anniversary. To get a free anniversary night, first book a minimum of 7 nights in a Club or Butler level room at the Sandals Resort of your choice for travel dates within 30 days before or after your wedding anniversary. Then register your booking and submit proof of wedding date within 14 days of your booking.
- Take advantage of the Service Personnel Discount. Sandals offers discounts of an additional 10% for for Service Personnel such as firefighters, military, police, and FEMA personnel! Learn more and see documentation requirements here.
- Book onsite for a return trip! Visit the loyalty desk for special deals on your next Sandals vacation for up to a 10-12% discount. You can also register for Sandals Select Rewards, the loyalty program, to earn points toward future stays.

Getting There from the USA, Canada and More
Sandals Resorts are accessible from major airports in the United States, Canada, and Europe that offer direct flights to the Caribbean islands where Sandals resorts are located.
Key airports for connecting flights to the Caribbean include:
- Miami International Airport (MIA) – Offers numerous flights to the Caribbean, making it a primary gateway, especially for American Airlines routes.
- New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) – A major hub for flights to many Caribbean destinations on a variety of airlines.
- Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) – Provides extensive connections due to its status as a Delta hub and many airlines that serve it.
- Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) – Another American Airlines hub and connection point for flights to the Caribbean.
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) – A significant point for Canadian travelers heading to the Caribbean.
- London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Gatwick Airport (LGW) – Key airports for European travelers, offering direct flights to several Caribbean islands.
Upon arrival in the Caribbean, Sandals resorts are generally a short drive from the local airport. Round-trip airport transfers to the resort from the nearest airport are included, of course!
Easiest Resorts to Get to / Most Connections

Weather: What to Expect by Seasons
The best time to visit Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean generally falls between December and April. During these months, the weather is typically dry and sunny, ideal for beach activities and outdoor adventures. This period is considered the Caribbean’s high season due to the weather and because of wintry conditions in much of the US, which attracts many visitors seeking a tropical climate.
However, for those looking to avoid crowds and potentially find lower rates, the months of May and June can be a sweet spot. The weather is still relatively good, and the peak tourist season has tapered off.
When is Hurricane Season?
The Caribbean hurricane season generally lasts from June to November, with September and October often seeing the highest storm activity. While resorts are equipped to handle this, it’s something to consider if planning a trip during these months. Travel insurance is recommended for any unforeseen disruptions.
Sandals Resorts located outside the typical hurricane belt in the Caribbean include: Sandals Barbados, Sandals Royal Barbados, Sandals Grenada and Sandals Curacao.
Barbados and Grenada are situated towards the southeastern Caribbean, which generally falls outside the main hurricane belt. This geographical advantage makes them less prone to hurricanes compared to other Caribbean islands. However, it’s always wise to be prepared and consider travel insurance, as weather can be unpredictable.
Curaçao is also located outside of the typical hurricane belt. Curaçao is in the southern Caribbean, near the coast of Venezuela, which is generally less affected by hurricanes.
While this doesn’t ensure a hurricane will never disrupt your travel plans, it’s worth considering these resorts if you plan to travel in late summer and early fall.
Wet and Dry Seasons & Temperatures
While rain and weather are never a given, the general seasons where you’ll find Sandals resorts are as follows:
Jamaica: Two rainy seasons, first from May to June and the second from September to November. Two dry seasons, one from July to August and the second from December to April
Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent: Wet season from June to November and dry season from mid-December to mid-April
Antigua, Grenada and Barbados: Wet season from June to November and dry season from December to May
The Bahamas: Wet season from July to December and dry season from November to June. Note that this is the northernmost of the resorts, and has a similar climate to Florida. For this reason, it’s cooler than you might expect during the North American winter. The best time to travel here is spring and summer.
Curacao: February to June have the least rainfall; October to December see higher rainfall.

Room Categories at Sandals Resorts

All rooms and suites at Sandals are divided into three room categories: Sandals Luxury, Club Level, and Butler Elite Level. In short, Sandals Luxury are Sandals’ entry-level rooms, Club Level rooms offer room service and Butler Elite suites come with personalized butler service.
Sandals Luxury
The Luxury category appeals to many guests because it makes it possible to enjoy all the inclusions Sandals is known for, without spending more than necessary. This category is ideal for active couples that plan to spend most of their time outside of their suite. In the Luxury level suites at Sandals, romance meets relaxation in the best way possible.
Luxury Level rooms include free to use minibar with juice, soda, water, Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks wine and local beer replenished upon request.
Club Level
Club Level rooms are slightly more luxurious than Luxury Level rooms and come with free room service from 7 AM until 10 PM. This is one of the main reasons guests are willing to upgrade from a Luxury level suite.
Sandals’ room service gives you the opportunity to order breakfast on bed, and to have lunch and dinner delivered to your suite. You’ll choose from a set in-room dining menu.
Club Level guests will also be met on arrival by Club Sandals Concierge for a private check-in at the Club Sandals Lounge.
In addition, you’ll have access to the Club Sandals lounge. The lounge includes a high-definition flat-screen TV, board games, books, a tea and coffee station and all-day snacks and pastries.
Butler Elite
The Butler Elite suites are the most luxurious suites at Sandals with the most breathtaking views. This category of accommodation takes service and luxury to a whole new level as it includes a professionally trained personal butler.
Butler suites at Sandals offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience, ideal for that special occasion!
If you choose to stay in a suite of this category, you can expect that your butler will greet you on arrival with welcome cocktails or champagne. Your butler will escort you to your suite and help you check-in from the comfort of your suite.
Once you’re checked in, you’ll get a personal cell phone to reach your butler whenever you need assistance.
Butlers can even serve you lunch, dinner, your favorite cocktails, and champagne — on the beach, at the poolside, or in your suite. In many cases, you can order from resort restaurants in addition to the in-room dining menu.
Butler suites boast a fully stocked bar – free to use – with juice, soda, water, sparkling wine, Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks wine, local beer and your selection of premium liquors, replenished upon request.
Some butler suites even come with luxurious private airport transfers.
